Wear Your Sunscreen

February 26, 2008

So tired. Little Monkey had a major fever last night and no one got much sleep because of it. She was uncomfortable and cranky. It earned her the privilege of sleeping in mom and dad’s bed. Poor booger felt like a fire bomb and she insisted on snuggling as close to me as possible. It was sweet but made me very sweaty.

A trip to the doctor this morning resulted in a catheter to make sure she didn’t have a UTI. Her 104+ fever with no symptoms posed a conundrum to all involved parties. After about 36 hours her fever has finally broke and some of her spunk is back. We shall see what else awaits. I hope the three year old Monkey Girl avoids whatever lovely virus this happens to be.

In other health news, we happen to have really good health care right now. I decided to take advantage of the quality care and made a battery of doctor appointments. Went to see my lovely dermatologist and, uh oh, I had some problem moles. UGH. I am in my early thirties and only marginally fair skinned.

There were two areas of concern which both required lots of cutting. The area on my face was a cyst with no sign of cancer but the mole on my back was bad. Yesterday, they cut a larger portion of my back out.

It really hurts. A piercing sharp hurt like the knife, scalpel, whatever, is still in there. Advil is doing nothing to take the edge off.

My 15 stitches will be around for two weeks. They will stop hurting and start itching in about three days.

Wear your sunscreen and slather those little ones.

Back to Life

February 21, 2008

Just got back from a week in Mexico.

It was divine. Lots of sandy toes and sleeping in hammocks. A constant buzz due to the endless supply of tasty beverages… yum yum.

Naps happened often and we took lots of nice walks scouring for sea treasures.

My crocs rocked the beach and my skirted bathing suit came in super handy as I trekked the ruins of Tulum with about 10,000 other tourists.

The five hour delay at the Cancun airport was sort of a buzz kill but an appropriate call back to reality.

Bite Me!

Dooce just posted a link to this very cute and funny video: Charlie bit me!

Immediately after watching Charlie bit me! watch Charlie Bit Me…remix.

I love high college kids. They are funny.

1980’s here I come…

I did it. I solidified my uncool state.

Today, I bought a pair of Crocs.

I have a yummy beach vacation coming up and I needed something other than flip flops for the water.

They are cute Crocs… as cute as Crocs get.

Come on, these are better than those awful water sock things any day. Right? And I have to admit, some of the fuss is justified - they are comfy.

Remember Jellies? I used to rock my Jellies and parachute pants. Now I will rock my Crocs and skirted bathing suit. Oh yes, I also bought a bathing suit with a skirt. How cool is that?
